Artists Statement

This work began as an exploration of The Feminine and why a tear, slit or gap is often read as pertaining to female sexual organs.

The main occupation has been with folds and crevices, as the properties of clay, and in particular porcelain, have added intriging dimensions to the various pieces.

Woman as vessel, or container has been a recuring theme as has the sensual experience of the visual.
